Bottomless margaritas, desserts, and a group of mis Amigas made the perfect recipe for a Cinco De Mayo themed fiesta.
Each of us go through life and our days without stopping for a moment to have a meaningful face to face interaction with the people we love. Although social media gives us the ability to connect to loved ones that are far from us, it unfortunately makes it easy for us to take the ones close to us for granted. Seeing our loved one’s lunch via an Instagram post is not the same as having lunch with them in person. Liking or commenting on their OTD (outfit of the day) on a post, is inferior to witnessing the smile that was just created by such a compliment. Therefore, we thought it would be a great idea to put together a girl’s night in. A night where girlfriends can connect over good food, thirst quenching drinks, and meaningful conversations. It would be the perfect “reset” button that we all need once in a while.
Now, we had to come up with a theme. We choose a modern fiesta theme to honor Cinco de Mayo, a day recognized in Mexico as the day the Mexican army took victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It was the perfect theme since we love color and the culture! If you’re planning to throw your very own celebration, take a look at our event, our decorating ideas, and tips that will ensure you will fiesta like there is no manana.
But first Margarita
“This senorita needs another margarita,” was repeated constantly throughout the entire event. When someone was out, it was time to pour. We had 4 different flavors to choose from: white peach, mango, watermelon, and classic lime.
Taco ‘bout delicious desserts
Among the guest was the one and only Dee from Sweet Deetails. Dee is a self-taught cake artist from Long Beach, CA. She made this amazing cake and cookies that are just to die for. Her details, or should I say, DEEtails are just impeccable.
We decided to go with a modern festive arrangement of pops of bright color, geometric shapes, cacti, and of course mini burros.
Colorful Fresh Blooms
These collective array of bright flowers were the perfect blooms for this fiesta centerpieces. We used El Pato cans as vases, and topped it off with a papel picado topper handmade by our very own, Benedetta.
Mis Amgias are Goal Diggers
The best part of the evening was hearing everyone’s goals and inspirations. In lieu of a place card, each senorita received a festive journal. We asked each person to write down three goals that they want to accomplish by the end of this year. It was lovely hearing all the different goals that everyone set for themselves. What was even more beautiful were the words of encouragement that was given by all the Amigas. It felt so good being around supportive, strong, intelligent women. Now it’s time for you to close your apps, and call your Amigas to plan your very own girl’s night!
